Lot 2 - Wine and Green Man/Person

Under the careful guidance of Nic Jones, local clay creative, create your very own “Green Man”.  With a glass of wine or soft drink to help get you in the mood and help you relax into the creative experience, here is a chance to enjoy this unique activity.  

Suitable for up to 7 people.

The session lasts approximately 1.5 hours, but allow 2 hours in case you get totally engrossed - which is not uncommon!

No experience is necessary, but if you have some leaves you would like to bring along for inspiration, that’s great.

All equipment and materials will be provided.

The process after you’ve made your green man (which will be explained in full detail on the day, takes about 5 weeks to finish for the clay to dry and be fired twice.  There is also an additional option to come back to paint your creation later.  Price/date to be agreed with Nic.

Nic Jones' studio is in her back garden in Wivenhoe.  It is fully insured but the garden is also home to some very friendly chickens and rabbits - so you’ve been warned!

Lot 3 - Walk on the Wildside

A guided walk in our local countryside, guided by our very own wildlife expert Chris Gibson.  

Join Chris on a gentle four hour stroll (no more than 6kms) looking at the flowers, insects and birds we have around us, and journey through the last 50 million years to understand the landscape and habitats that make Wivenhoe such a special place to live.

Suitable for a maximum of 8 people. 

A half day unforgettable experience packed with the extraordinary knowledge and passion that fills Chris from head to toe.  Time and place by mutual agreement.

Imagine a visit from Sally with her years of professional gardening experience who will provide a totally personal border planting consultation to the winning bidder.  Sally comes with many years experience at Beth Chatto’s gardens, the Royal Parks in London and is currently head gardener at Braxted Park.

Sally is offering a consultation for ideas on how to improve your garden through planting, and suggest plants that are well suited to your garden’s aspect. 

She will visit you and your garden for two hours and discuss with you what you’d like from the garden and give ideas on how it could be achieved.  She will provide a list of plants that will work well together and grow well in your garden and that are readily available.

Lot 8 - Learn to write a perfect Press Release

This lot offers the opportunity for up to 4 people, over a four hour training session, to learn the essentials of press release writing. 

The training combines theory and practise, and will include the chance to write two press releases followed by constructive feedback.


The course will look at what makes a “story”, how journalists think and process news, how a daily news organisation operates, and how to maximise your organisation’s chance of getting press coverage in a highly competitive media space.

The session will be tailored to the work of the organisation(s) of the people attending and led by Neil Boom who has 35 years of professional experience in the world of PR.
